The dishwasher is basically your main ally in keeping everything in your kitchen clean. It can spray enough hot water everywhere to melt all the tough food particles off anything. If you treat your dishwasher with some care, it will serve you for a long time. Here's how to properly use and take care of him.
This step will save some trouble for the dishwasher, as it doesn't have to work as hard to remove the largest of food particles. Also, without large pieces, there is almost no chance of having the dishwasher becoming clogged. A clogged dishwasher is no fun, and is potentially expensive to fix.
This is a more formal name for a little bottle of liquid that you place into the compartment next to the dishwasher detergent. It can make your items sparkle, giving them new life. It can also help to cut through some of the stains that the detergent cannot get rid of. Having clean dinnerware will not only impress company, but will make you like eating off of them.
Different detergents have different effects on both the items you put in the dishwasher and also the dishwasher itself. Sometimes the detergent will either clump or leave color residue where you put the detergent in. Don't be afraid to try new ones. Once you have found something you like, stick with it, as you'll know what to expect from it.
This step may seem obvious, but it needs to be said. Place glasses on the top shelf, with the open part facing down to prevent soapy water accumulation. The same goes for small bowls. Place silverware in the silverware holder, unless they are large tools, like large spoons. Then they go on the top shelf. You should also place the bigger items on the bottom shelf, as they'll receive more water and cleaning power from the dishwasher, but don't block the path of the jets, as then nothing else will get clean.
