You are seeing: Home > Computer Room > Tip #1: What's Trash?
As with any room in your home, trash accumulate wherever it can. You can take preemptive action against trash by creating more space, and attending to the space when it starts to get cluttered. Here are some simple techinques to create more space.
It is always a good idea to keep manuals and old documents around in case you need them. Just check to see if they are still relevant to you - otherwise throw them out, as they are clutter.
Computer parts and software come in boxes. If you are happy with how a program is working, you don't really need the box. If you are afraid of losing something from the box, place this box somewhere safe (or in another box). You could always just cut out what you want to keep and throw the rest away, too.
Having extras of anything when dealing with electonics is a wise thing to do. It is not wise, though, to have these parts sprawled around, as they can become damaged. Have a storage unit for this, and either keep it in the garage or in a place in this room out of the way to prevent damage.
Sometimes having old versions of software is handy, so you can revert if a newer version isn't working. But you don't need to keep older CDs and floppy disks around whuch you aren't using any more. If you are not currently using them, you can be safe in thinking you won't need it ever again.
