Having your clothes separated when you do your laundry is very beneficial. Doing this will not only make your clothes come out looking cleaner, but this process reduces the work of the washing machine. There will also be less of a chance your items will come out damaged or ruined. These tips will help to make sure you get started out on the right foot.
Most washing machines have a special setting now for white clothes. Take advantage of the manufacturer's extra effort! The machine knows how to do it all, so just place all your whites in the machine, hit the button, and walk away. It's that simple.
Place all your colored clothes together in a giant pile. These come usually with the same set of washing instructions (but checking is helpful as well), so just take small chunks and place them directly into the washer. These clothes are meant to be treated like this.
Delicates are clothes which are either really thin or have been deemed this by their manufacturer. Place them into the washer, but don't put them into the dryer, unless your dryer has a special setting. These clothes are really meant to be air dried.
Towels are meant to absorb water. They are also thick and bulky as well, so don't put too many in the washing machine at a time. This places unnecessary stress on the washer if there are too many of these present. Also, consider sorting towels also by colors or materials as well.
Sheets and bedding materials need to be cleaned as well. Keep in mind when washing these items that they are usually very bulky, so don't try to stuff too many in at a time. Some materials are more absorbent as well, requiring you to place them in the dryer for a longer amount of time.
