The Accenture Business Competition is an annual competition that challenges students to pitch a software package to a fictional company. My colleagues and I decided to enter to test our presentations skills and learn how it means to talk the language of the business world, something designers have to know to pass their knowledge to businessmen to help them understand the design’s implications.

Our Approach
The competition lasted for only 2 days, so our group started to work on the project right away. We were fortunate to have one of our members trained in the world of business, and he was able to help us gain an understanding of all of the data we were given to think about solving this problem.
Once we were able to understand the data, we began to construct an argument for utilizing the proposed system: by gaining this system to track the sales of cars from each dealer, we can gain enough information to keep a better track of inventory and use the competitive nature of each dealership to help increase sales. We began to then sketch out are argument over the course of next two days, keeping in mind the individual dealers and their interests. After sketching our argument, we then ran through our argument in front of non-participants, received feedback, and then gave our proposal in front of the fictitious heads of the company. It was an enlightening experience to the world of business.
